German black metal band Sun Worship’s 2011 self-titled demo showcased a strong Scandinavian influence. The two-track digital release is ferocious metal full of tremolo picking, blast beats, and lo-fi scream/shrieks; with long instrumental passage sans vocals entirely. The demo demonstrates Sun Worship’s predilection for melodic songwriting, and it sets a good precedent for Sun Worship’s future releases as the post-black and progressive styles become more popular among underground and mainstream audiences.
