Krieg – Patrick Bateman

Krieg - Patrick Bateman

Bestial black metal – or war metal – is a hypergenre1 of black metal with cacophonous; basically, black metal for those who don’t think the genre is evil enough already. Patrick Bateman is an EP by Krieg2 of New Jersey; the release is named after the main character of the book/film American Psycho. The five-track release is ostensibly two; the other three are brief soliloquies by the eponymous character. The two songs are downright savage messes of blackened brutality with muddled sound, amped bass, and roaring screams;3 it’s annoying that the other tracks are even there (especially on an EP), other than the first one as it is an apt introduction to the release.4
